Volunteer roles

We have a number of volunteer roles. Working with other museum personnel, some of these roles could be shared on done remotely. Below are the different areas you can volunteer in.

  • Front of House - our most essential volunteer, opening the museum and providing a warm welcome to visitors.

  • Head Gardener - taking the lead in turning our garden into a pollinator-friendly kitchen garden
  • Gardener(s) - work with the head gardener to transform our garden. You could also be a 'from home' gardener by providing the museum with young or divided plants!
  • Collections (preventative conservation, research, data entry) - these roles ensure our collections are safe and accessible to the community.

  • Maintenance - helping to maintain our beautiful Georgian building.
  • Community Engagement (schools, afterschool groups, adult outreach, social media) - engaging with Billericay's communities to ensure greater access to our collections.
